Take Nothing for Granted!

You know that saying, you don't know what you've got until it's gone? or appreciate what you have? Well, a friend of mine passed out a few weeks ago in church and it was one of the scariest things I've ever encountered.

I've never actually witnessed anyone pass out before and the fact that it was a close friend really scared me. It really opened my eyes to see that nothing is for certain, anything can happen at any moment, yes, even to young people. I heard a loud bang. I saw her on the floor, eyes closed, my heart skipped a beat. An odd feeling came over me, unfamiliar. And you know what was more frightening? she later told us that she wasn't even planning to go to church that morning, if she had stayed home, no one would have been there to call 911. When the paramedics arrived and took a blood test, they informed us that her blood sugar level was really low. She stayed at the hospital for a while and then returned home when she regained strength. I worried about her so I called and texted that week to see how she was doing. Thankfully, she's doing considerably well now despite the fact that she fainted a second time this past week while they were taking more blood tests.

We've become so accustomed to our friends and you could even say that we sometimes take them for granted. Friends are a real blessing. I think everyone should let their friends know how amazing they truly are and how much they appreciate their friendship and spending time with them because they could be here today and gone tomorrow. Now I know that sounds really preachy and cliche but there are so many people out there that get into huge fights with their friends over such small and ridiculously insignificant things, seriously people, let it go, it's not worth holding a grudge, life is short. Step up and be a man. Make the first move. Even if it means stripping your ego down. You don't know how lucky you are to have the friends you have.
